I’m so thankful you took a moment out of your busy day to visit. My name is Kawandanell, but my friends call me Kawan. I was named by my Aunt Patte’. My name was supposed to be Kawan Danell, but the nurse that took down the information from my mom and forgot to add the space! Ooops! I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. Growing up in church as a PK (preachers kid), have always been into and been exposed to fashion. My favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I’m so glad there is hope and a future in Jesus Christ!
My life isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely perfect for me. I have an amazing husband who puts up with my obsession with Dr. Pepper and hot tea, my organized chaos, and my constant need to talk through all the things in my head at any given hour of the day. Together we raise 3 daughters, Brianne, Kyra, and Ari. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and was a Business Analyst for many years. Recently, Brianne graduated from Arizona State University and is attending Howard University School of Law. She’s made our family so proud! Kyra is in college and recently launched a beauty, hair and fashion blog! You can check her out here! Ari keeps us on the go with all of her many high school and church activities!!!
I started sewing in 2014. I used to love to watch my grandmother and Aunt Patte’ sew when I was younger, but didn’t have much of an interest to learn. Ari’s sudden growth spurt made it more and more difficult to find cute, church appropriate clothes for her. She was 13 at the time and I credit her with the reason I started to sew. Everything was too tight, too short, unflattering and just a plain mess! I took to the internet and ran across a sewing tutorial from Mimi G. I watched every video she had on YouTube. She explained sewing with such ease that my confidence started to build and I had never sewn anything before! I made a skirt for her and her confidence went through the roof! She was in love! The next week was Easter and I made skirts for myself and the girls. I was sold and there was no turning back.
I decided to sew for others in 2015 and it’s been such a crazy ride! I was able to stop working my 9-5 and invest all of my time into my business.
